Led Lamp

Light Emitting Diodes, or LEDs, are the basis of LED Light Therapy treatments. These UV-free, non-invasive procedures have recently gained in popularity for rejuvenating skin and eliminating blemishes and breakouts. Proven to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, improve skin tone and brighten the complexion, they are painless, can be conducted in a matter of minutes, and require no recovery time. Originally administered in doctor’s offices and spas, there are now at-home solutions available on the market, as well.

LED treatments use different coloured lights to target different skin care concerns. Though machines may vary in their colour selection, generally, blue light is used to eliminate bacteria that causes acne, offering a solution for whiteheads and blackheads. Red light is used to accelerate healing, stimulate collagen production and combat rosacea, whilst minimising enlarged pores. White lights have longer wavelengths and therefore penetrate the skin deepest, tightening and toning, as well as reducing inflammation.

Patients have their skin steamed and cleansed by a doctor or aesthetician, then have a machine that emits light and a gentle heat placed before their face. With eyes covered for protection, they are asked to simply relax while the machine runs its course.

As LED light therapy is not as potent as laser, it may require multiple treatments over the course of weeks or months to see the full, desired effect, though some patients notice results within two days. These treatments are not known to have any negative side effects due to their non-invasive nature.
